Community Medical Center’s Presidents Club is a men’s volunteer group who helps to raise money for the Community Cancer Institute. They have only been in place for a year and half, and they’ve already raised more than half a million dollars.
For their generous and support and fundraising efforts, we’re honoring them as this week’s Healthcare Hero. The group is made up of 40 local men who are all dedicated to supporting community’s efforts to improving the health and prosperity of the Central Valley through philanthropic support and advocacy.
This past July, the Presidents Club threw it’s second annual White Hot Summer Night event, which raised needed funds for state-of-the-art cancer care. There was a dinner, a fashion show, and an auction, and all of the proceeds raised went straight to the Cancer Institute.
Mark Astone is the president of the Presidents Club. He commented, “My mom passed of cancer 20 year ago, we didn’t have a facility like this, so it’s really touching my heart a little bit to be able to do something great.”
“We have things in the Cancer Institute, which you and I are sitting in, that just aren’t covered by the budget. There’s only so much we can do in the budget, and people, when the chips are down they want the best, right? I know I do… And these guys [the Presidents Club] are making it so that we have the best technology, equipment, programs, navigator services that the best in the world have,” stated Katie Zenovich, the CEO of Community Medical Foundation.
