The Community Cancer Institute recently received an extremely generous donation of one million dollars. Our healthcare hero this week is the donor, Howe Electric Construction Inc.
The donation will help cancer patients receive specialized care from the oncology department, by providing nurse navigators to guide them during their treatment. Along with nurse navigators, support services include social workers, dietitians, speech-language pathologists and geneticists to ensure all patient needs are met.
Katie Zenovich is the Senior Vice President of Development of Community Medical Centers. She said, “For the medical center, all cancer services are now available here in one spot, under one roof, here at Community Cancer Institute. We opened last August and we’re seeing patients, thousands of patients, stopping them from feeling like they have to leave the area to get top care.”
Howe Electric Inc.’s generous relationship with Community started in 1981. They’ve given several gifts to the Leon S. Peters Burn Center and Table Mountain Rancheria Trauma Center, Terry’s House, Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital and toward expansion efforts at Clovis Community Medical Center.
