Michelle Obama’s best-selling book has sold almost 10 million copies.
Publisher Penguin Random House announced Tuesday the former First Lady’s memoir, “Becoming,” was closing in on the 10 million copy milestone.
“We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history,” said Thomas Rabe, the chief executive of Bertelsmann, a parent company of Penguin Random House, according to the Wall Street Journal.
It hit best-seller status very soon after its November release, selling more than 1.4 million copies in its first week.
Obama has sold out arenas on her massive international book tour, where she has been interviewed onstage by Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon and former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, among others, according to CNN.
The memoir went on to become one of the most popular books of the decade.
“Becoming” enjoyed the longest stint at No. 1 for any book since “Fifty Shades of Grey” in 2012, according to Amazon.
