Minnesota head football coach P.J. Fleck spoke on Tuesday about the Golden Gophers’ next game: at Fresno State on Saturday night.
“They’re really good,” said Fleck. “That’s what I took away (from Saturday’s game at USC). They’re really good. And we knew that last year, they finished 18th in the country, 12-2. I think when people look back to the win we had here, they’re like, ‘oh yeah, you beat Fresno State, they’re a Group of Five team.’ That’s uneducated, right, when people say things like that because that was a big-time Top 25 team.”
Fleck continued, commenting on the 2019 team, “You know, so they’ve got a really good quarterback. (Jorge Reyna) can run, he can throw. He likes to be on the move. They might have lost their coordinator (Kalen DeBoer) to Indiana but you look at what (Jeff) Tedford’s been able to do offensively, that doesn’t matter. They haven’t missed a beat.”
Minnesota (1-0) will be the fourth Big Ten team to visit Bulldog Stadium. Kickoff against Fresno State (0-1) on Saturday night is at 7:30 pm.
