EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) — A truck driver hauling a generator was also carrying $6.6 million worth of methamphetamine, Customs and Border Protection officials said.

Border officers, with the help of a drug-sniffing dog, found the drugs hidden in a stake bed truck crossing into the U.S. from Mexico on Wednesday at the World Trade International Bridge in Laredo, Texas.

During a secondary inspection, officers found 50 packages of meth weighing 333 pounds, CBP officials said.

“This was an excellent interception by our CBP officers and a great example of the layered enforcement implemented by CBP,” Laredo Port of Entry Director Albert Flores said in a news release. “The narcotics that were seized today are the kind that have been devastating the most vulnerable members of our communities.”

The meth had a street value of approximately $6,652,601. The case was turned over to special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations.
