Katherine Phillips

Katherine comes to the Central Valley from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she was a reporter for two years at the NBC affiliate WMBF News. In Myrtle Beach, Katherine reported live from Hurricane Isaias, reported on the impacts of growth in the area, covered repeated flooding and covered city and county government. With a background in political reporting, Katherine also covered various Presidential campaign stops through the region as South Carolina is an early primary voting state- the first in the south before Super Tuesday. She also interviewed then Vice President Mike Pence one-on-one about the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Myrtle Beach’s tourism industry and on his push to open schools in the state.

Katherine attended the University of South Carolina and is from Virginia Beach, Virginia. At South Carolina, she majored in broadcast journalism and minored in political science. While still in college she spent a summer interning in DC with CNN, covering Capitol Hill, including the historic Robert Mueller testimony in front of Congress.

Katherine has a rescue dog and loves making a trip to take him to the beach.
