Julia Lopez

Growing up, Julia knew she wanted to be around sports. She played soccer for 16 years and won a couple of state championships during her high school days in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a two-sport athlete, and also earned All-District Center Fielder in softball.

Her dad was a sportscaster for many years, so she practically grew up in the newsroom. She understood the long hours and the daily deadlines, but that’s what she loves about this industry… the adrenaline rush and how every day is different.

Julia graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO and majored in Communication Studies with a minor in Ethnic Studies. During college, she interned at ESPN in Bristol, CT and also Comcast SportsNet in San Francisco.

After college, she went to KPNX in Phoenix to help out with its high school football coverage. She also made stops in Greenville (SC), Reno, Denver and now Fresno.

Along with sports, she is a big animal lover and believes in giving animals a second chance at life. You might see #adoptdontshop pop up on her timeline if you follow her on Twitter.

Julia is excited to be in Fresno and to be able to cover the amazing Central Valley athletes and teams around the area.
