A proud native of Fresno, Alexan Balekian returned home and to the TV station he first interned for, in July of 2018.
Alexan’s near 20-year broadcast career began in 2001 as a sports anchor in Victoria, Texas. Ironically, one of his first assignments was interviewing former Bulldog great David Carr when he was drafted as the Texans number one overall pick.
A year later he landed in the Alamo City covering the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys.
Alexan would make his way back home in 2004 when KSEE24 came calling. Alexan joined the sports team and helped launch the Bulldog Insider and Sports Central.
In 2009, Alexan ventured into the world of sports talk radio. He launched the first FM sports show, “No Static Sports” on KMJ. Then in 2013, he took his talents to Phoenix, Arizona becoming the Game Day host for the Arizona Cardinals on ESPN radio. He also launched his news career by writing politics for NBC News radio.
After 17-years in sports, Alexan made the switch to news and politics becoming the morning anchor for the FOX affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia. He covered politics on Capitol Hill.
But when KSEE24 came calling again in the summer of 2018, Alexan did not hesitate to come home again. He’s proud to join Stefani Booroojian as the only Armenian anchor team in the country. Alexan also hosts the weekly political show Sunday Morning Matters.
When he’s not working or offering his time for community events, Alexan enjoys traveling with his son and all that Fresno and the Valley has to offer, especially the golf courses and wineries.
