Alex Backus

Alex Backus has been an anchor and reporter with CBS47 and KSEE24 since September 2015.

She’s covered big breaking news stories, wildfires and the 2016 Presidential election. The past two years, she’s featured Valley agriculture in CBS47’s weekly “Eye on Ag” series. Her piece on labor shortages won the 2018 Fresno County Farm Bureau Video Journalism award.

Alex previously worked as an anchor and reporter in Chico, CA and Great Falls, MT.

Alex is a Central Valley native and happy to be back home! She was born and raised in Turlock. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Stanislaus. She also represented Stanislaus County in the 2011 Miss California USA pageant.

Alex is a big sister in the Central California Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. When she’s not at work, you can find Alex running after her German Shepherd, Bodie.
