AJ Fox

A.J. Fox is the Chief Meteorologist for KSEE 24 NEWS at 5, 6, and 11pm. He is the valley’s most accurate according to Weatherate, a weather accuracy tracking service. A.J. has served as Chief Meteorologist since March 2009.

He had been the meteorologist for KSEE Sunrise and KSEE 24 NEWS at NOON since August 1998. A.J. started his TV career as the traffic reporter for KSEE Sunrise in August 1995, but he started doing weather reports the very next month. He has been nominated for an Emmy Award three times.

Once for “Best Weather Anchor” and once for an on-line educational series called “Weather Interactive”. In 2021, The KSEE24 evening team (including A.J.) was nominated, and won the Emmy, for Best Newscast in a Medium Market. A.J. Fox is the first meteorologist in Fresno to achieve the highest certifications from the American Meteorological Society: Certified Broadcast Meteorologist as well as Certified Consulting Meteorologist. Less than 2 dozen meteorologists in the United States have both certifications.

He has served on the American Meteorological Society’s Broadcast Board which certifies other TV and radio meteorologists nationwide.

Prior to television, A.J. had an extensive career in radio in the Central Valley. You might have heard A.J.’s voice on Power 102, KFIG 101.1FM, or Oldies 92.9 FM. He started broadcasting in Fresno professionally in January 1989(he was still a teenager).

A.J. has also been an adjunct professor at Fresno City College since 2002. He teaches a weather and climate course every semester. In 2011, he also started teaching weather and land formation courses at Reedley College and Madera Center and on line. He was recently hired as a part time instructor of geography at Fresno State.

In 2010, A.J. finished his 3rd advanced degree by completing a Master’s of Science in Geosciences from Mississippi State. The final project for this degree was an actual 10 day storm chase across 6 states. He also holds an advanced degree in Meteorology and a Master’s of Art in Mass Communication and Journalism from Fresno State. Fresno State is where A.J. got his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.

In his spare time, A.J. enjoys playing music. He plays guitar and sings in two bands locally: Los Hooligans, which is an original ska band with 2 albums released, and Fat Penguin which plays primarily cover songs. You can catch either band playing at clubs across the Central Valley from time to time.

A.J. and his wife Theresa will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in 2023. They currently live in Madera with their sons Parker and Preston, and their daughter Victoria.
