DeRuyter: Still Much to Celebrate Despite BCS Ranking

Despite blowing out the competition on Saturday, the dogs fell one spot in the BCS rankings to number 16
The Mountain West has named Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr the Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with Wyoming's quarterback.

Carr passed for 522-yards and threw a career best seven touchdowns against New Mexico at Bulldog Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the blowout, though, the dogs fell one spot in the BCS rankings to number 16. That could knock them out of a much-coveted BCS bowl game.

Coach DeRuyter says there's still a lot for fans to celebrate.

"It's terrific for our fans to be able to be here to experience the fact that we're clinching the west. I thought it was special last year, same thing, Senior Day against Air Force where our fans were here seeing us celebrate that championship," said DeRuyter.

The dogs play San Jose State at Spartan Stadium on Friday then will take on either Utah State or Boise State in the Mountain West Conference Championship next Saturday at Bulldog Stadium.
