Deputy Killed in Solo Vehicle Accident Near Exeter

A Tulare County Sheriff's deputy was killed in a solo vehicle accident early Tuesday morning. Deputy Jeremy Meyst was transporting inmates in a van when he crashed near Exeter. The van collided with a cement guard rail and Meyst was ejected from the vehicle.
A Tulare County Sheriff's deputy was killed in a solo vehicle accident near Exeter Tuesday. It happened around 2:30 in the morning on Spruce Avenue, just south of Highway 198. Deputy Jeremy Meyst was transporting inmates in a van when it collided with a cement guard rail. Meyst was thrown from the vehicle and died from his injuries. Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash. Meyst grew up in Visalia. He graduated from Mt. Whitney High School and joined the sheriff's department in 2004. He leaves behind a wife and two kids.
