Valley Farmers Recieve Zero Water Allocation

Those who have water contracts with the federal government were told Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation they'll be getting an unprecedented zero allocation.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced Friday that Central Valley farmers on both the West Side and in the Friant division who have water contracts won't receive any this year.

Farmers say the zero percent water allocation will have a trickle down effect beyond the Central Valley's multi-billion dollar ag industry.

An estimated 200-thousand acres of land will be left unplanted, and farmers say thousands of ag jobs will be lost.
