Can George conquer the dreaded chin-up with the chain exercise? Cameron Worrell of Athletic Performance put him to the test.

GEORGE TAKATA: all right - back here at the dungeon - that's what they call athletic performance in clovis - 340 clovis avenue - i've got this chain on - not for show - i'm actually going to use this as part of my chin-up exercise with cameron worrell, the co-owner of the gym - it's not easy.

CAMERON WORRELL: yeah, you've been coming in for a while so you've advanced to using the chain - the chain adds about 20 pounds on george's body - palms facing him, that's what we call a chin-up - if his hands were away that would be a pull-up - fully extend - straight arms at the bottom and then get his chin over the bar so he's using all of his rear shoulder and back muscles, external rotators, trap 3 muscles, using his biceps to get his chin over the bar - great technique here - like I said, george has been coming here for a while - this is one of the best stomach exercises you can do - you have to keep that core tight and you have to have enough strength to keep your body in a good enough position to pull yourself up as george is doing here - he did about 8 or 9 reps with 20 pounds on, that's a very very good job. 

GEORGE TAKATA: I needed to put powder on my hands - or chalk - I could have gone a little longer but anyway, it's a good workout - how many can you do?

CAMERON WORRELL: when I was playing I could do a lot - now, not so many - I don't think I could hit 8 or 9 with the chain like you did.

CAMERON WORRELL: go for it - just make sure you hang down all the way at the bottom so you're not cheating the reps.
