This morning, at around 9:30 am, officers from the Northwest Policing District were dispatched to a residence located in the 3900 block of N. Teilman Avenue, near W. Pontiac Way, to investigate reports the shooting of an adult male that had just occurred.
When officers arrived on scene, they located the victim on the ground just north of the Teilman residence. Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the victim to Community Regional Medical Center where the victim later died. While on scene, officers received information regarding a possible location where the suspect may have fled to following the shooting. This location was checked, but did not result in the apprehension of the suspect.
Fresno Police Department Homicide Detectives Antonio Rivera and Alfonso Castillo were assigned to investigate today’s murder. During the investigation, it was determined that our victim and suspect knew each other and this was not a random act of violence. The motive for the murder is still under investigation.
The victim’s identity is not being released pending notification of the victim’s family. This is the 26th homicide this year compared to 21 murders this time last year in 2013.If anybody has information regarding this murder, they are asked to call Fresno Police Department Homicide Detectives Antonio Rivera at (559) 621-2441 or Alfonso Castillo at (559) 621-2445. Citizens with information, who choose to remain anonymous, can call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP. A reward of up to $1,000 dollars is being offered to a citizen who provides information to Crime Stoppers resulting in the apprehension of the suspect.
