Shooting Victim Collapses Near Nursing Home

Fresno Police are searching for the person who critically wounded a man on Shields Ave.
Police are searching for the suspects who gunned down a man putting him in the hospital in critical condition.

The shooting happened in central Fresno just before 8:30 Monday night.

It happened on East Shields Ave. between First Street and Millbrook.

Detectives roped off the parking lot of a nursing home called Golden Living Centers - Hy-Lond.  The victim reportedly walked to the entry way of the building and then collapsed.  An ambulance arrived and quickly took the man away.

His name is not known, but he's believed to be in his 30s.  The man was said to be alone, so detectives have very little information to work with at this point.

"We don't know if it's a drive by or a walk by, but apparently he was walking, that's what we've discovered," said Lt. Phil Cooley of the Fresno Police Dept.

Police have not been able to get a good suspect description.  They did stop someone in a vehicle, but that person was not involved in the shooting.

If you have any information to help solve this case, call Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
