Itching for some fishing? Want to catch a really BIG one? Then take the one-hour drive up Hwy 168 to Shaver Lake

The Shaver Lake Trophy Trout project has spent tens of thousands of dollars stocking the lake with trout up to 8 pounds in size, making Shaver a fishing destination

Bob Bernier joined us to give us some fishing tips, including renting state-of-the-art pontoon boats at Sierra Marina & Shaver Lake Marina with fish finders, or taking out Dick's Fishing Charters (reservations through Shaver Lake Sports, 559-841-2740)

For shore fishing, try fishing from the rocks using nightcrawlers, while crickets are good for catching decent-sized bass, and there are also kokanee in the lake

Shaver Lake Trophy Trout Fundraiser Dinner w/great auction items - Saturday, Aug 9th, 5pm at the Shaver Community Center, $50 tickets available through the website

Shaver was one of the fortunate lakes that got a good water allocation in this time of drought, being nearly 2/3 full
