The public is invited to a special ceremony marking the investiture of Dr. Joseph I. Castro as Fresno State's eighth president.

It's being held Saturday, May 10, from 2-4 p.m. at the Save Mart Center.

This formal academic event is typically held during the weekday, but in a rare move Dr. Castro has opened it up to the public.

Mrs. Mary Castro was on Midday to talk about the importance of making the ceremony free and public, especially for kids to encourage higher education. Schools are encouraged to bring groups of kids to the event.
