Police say a suspect has committed a string of armed robberies in Northwest Fresno. Now they need the public's help identifying him.

The suspect has robbed four business with a gun in the past three weeks.

Tuesday night at a Rite Aid on W. Shaw Avenue the suspect asked for ice cream. When the cashier rang up the ice cream the suspect passed a demand note and lifted up his shirt to reveal a handgun.

"It kinda makes you not want to bring the kids out or go to a totally different part of town because that's crazy it freaks me out actually," Ariana Milla, who shops in the area of the robberies said.

At Rite Aid the cashier couldn't open the register and the suspect fled empty handed. At three other robberies police say the cashiers feared for their lives and gave him cash.

Police say the suspect targeted a CVS, Walgreens and The Family Christian Store in Northwest Fresno as well.

"Let them take what they are going to take and not try to be so much of a hero because anything can happen," Victoria Escovedo, a shopper said.

During each robbery he pretends to buy something and as soon as the cash register opens he demands money and reveals a gun. Police say he uses disguises as well. In one robbery he wore a surgical mask, in two others he wore a black shoulder length wig.

"You just have to be aware of your surroundings. Like tonight I carry all the groceries out so my husband is free to do anything that he needs to do to protect me," Escovedo said.

Police described the suspect as either Hispanic or white with tan skin, between 25-35 years old, medium build and between 5'10 and 6'3.
