California State Senate Accused of Nepotism

An independent review continues into allegations that the California State Senate favors family and friends during hiring practices.
An independent review continues into allegations that the California State Senate favors family and friends during hiring practices.
Last fall, there were allegations of nepotism against top administrators.
And in May, nepotism accusations came up again.
This time against Sergeant of Arms Gerardo Lopez.
He was found to have drugs in his system during a fatal off-duty shooting at his home.
Lopez was not fired until word came out about his drug history from court records.
Some critics say he was protected.
His mother, Dina Hildalgo, is Head of Human Resources for the Senate.
Investigators have billed the Senate more than $41,000 dollars for their work.
