Huron Girl Found Alive, Kidnapper Still on the Loose

A 3 year old girl is home safe, after police say she was kidnapped out of her mother's car in Huron.  The toddler was found Monday morning near S. Lassen and 12th street.  No arrests have been made, but KSEE 24's sources say police have brought someone in for questioning.

It's a horror story with a happy ending.  A three old year old girl is back safe in her mother's arms, after being ripped away by a stranger.

Fresno Co. Sheriff's lieutenant Jose Salinas says, "Very relieved, very relieved.  Especially a three year old out there in the dark."

The toddler was spotted by a detective around 8 o'clock Monday morning.  She was alone and running through a field not far from her home.  She had been missing for twelve hours.

Community member Yoreme Amagrande says, "We are happy.  All the community is happy because we worked hard to find her."

Deputies say the girl was in her mother's car, in front of their Huron apartment Sunday night.  The mom ran inside to grab her wallet and that's when a man grabbed the girl from her car seat and took off on his bicycle.

"It's just a reminder to everybody to never leave your kids attended because you never know what's going to happen.  It takes a split second," says Lt. Salinas.

The CHP issued an Amber Alert, but freeway signs weren't activated because there was no suspect vehicle.  Instead, alerts were sent through text messages.

CHP Sgt. Axel Reyes says, "We can't be there when things happen, so the more help we get from locals and the news, it just helps us tremendously."

The mother's car was taken in for testing, and detectives scoured the field where the girl was found using canines and helicopters to search for the suspect.

Lt. Salinas says, "At this point, they have no clue why they're child would be abducted.  It may be a random act based on the child being in the car alone."

The little girl was taken to the hospital for an evaluation, but it's unclear at this time if she suffered any injuries or abuse.

A reward is being offered for any information on the suspect's whereabouts.  He is described as a Hispanic male in his 30's and is believed to be somewhere in the Huron area.
