Plenty to do on this warm valley weekend, including dodging obstacles and the undead, bargain hunting in Clovis, and watching California Chrome at the track. Here's your High Five report:
-Get ready to run for your life. The Mud 'n Blood Zombie Run is Saturday in Sanger at Hobbs Grove. The 5k course follows a path through zombie infested tree lined roads, over and through water crossings, and other challenging obstacles all while zombies chase after runners to get their flags. Registration day of is $75, kids 8-13 are $35.
-No zombies will be after you or your dog at the valley oak SPCA 5k Furry Run/Walk. It's Saturday at 7:30am in Visalia. This event starts and finishes at Plaza Park, taking people and their pets past the Visalia Airport and Valley Oaks Golf Course. Race day registration is $30.
-If browsing for good deals is more your thing, head to the annual "Old Town Flea Market" in Clovis. Check out what's being offered from vendors all over the state from antiques to plants, furniture and apparel. It's Saturday and Sunday at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds. Gates open at 8am and close at 4pm.
-Don't forget, Valley-bred California Chrome will be going for the Triple Crown this Saturday. The Fresno County Fairgrounds will host a watch party at the Brian Tatarian Grandstand. Fans will be able to watch California Chrome live as he races in the Belmont Stakes. Doors open at 8 am. You can also watch the race on KSEE24. Coverage begins at 1:30pm.
-Speaking of valley champs, the Fresno State Football team will be honored at the Visalia Rawhide game this Friday for winning the 2013 Mountain West Championship. The Bulldogs along with the trophies will be at the game, signing autographs and taking pictures from 6pm-7pm when the game starts. No word on whether Quarterback Derek Carr, who's now an Oakland Raider, will be there.
