Fresno Police detective arrested, accused of taking $20,000 bribe

A Fresno Police detective has been arrested. He is accused of taking a $20,000 bribe during a marijuana trafficking investigation.
Fresno Police detective is under arrest.

Derik Kumagai is accused of accepting a $20,000 bribe from a person who was being investigated for marijuana trafficking. 

The detective has been with the Fresno Police Department since year 2000.

Kumagai is now on paid administrative leave. Chief Dyer says Kumagai cannot be officially fired until a verdict has been reached.

As for the man who offered that bribe, he has been identified as Faykham Somphoune.
