California has collected millions of dollars in late fire fees from homeowners living in rural fire-prone areas.
The Board of Equalization says the state took in more than 2-million dollars in late fees from July 20-11 through June 20-13.
That's because 275,000 homeowners missed the deadline during the two year span.
The annual fee is set at 150 dollars.
Governor Brown and lawmakers developed the fee to boost cal fire's budget during the economic downturn.
