Huge gas tanks were pulled out of the ground in Downtown Fresno on Monday. It's part of a clean up effort, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency. The gas tanks were buried beneath a former gas station at Broadway and Ventura. The owner of the property shut down the pumps in 1982 but couldn't afford to remove the tanks. It has ultimately kept him from being able to tear down the existing building and build a new business. Fortunately, the EPA has stepped in to help.
