It's time for us to honor a teacher in the valley who's making a difference. Today we visit Fresno Adventist Academy for our Educator of the Week.
"Can you guys please read together with me, Isaiah 40:31," asks Mrs. Teri Ann Ricchiuti of her sixth grade class. Reading out of the bible is just part of the curriculum, but that's not all Mrs. Ricchiuti has in store for her students.
"She loves science so we have science experiments all the time and huge filed trips like we're going to camp Wawona," said her student Miah Reindl.
They recently dissected the heart of an animal and they're going on a six-day field trip. To say the least, she keeps class interesting for her students.
"Instead of doing volcano with baking soda and vinegar I try to use things that are more explosive," said Mrs. Ricchiuti while chuckling at the end. It's clear she has a good time teaching her students. Just ask her students.
"She's very fun, she can be hilarious at times," said Miah.
But they also knows when it's time to get to work as put by another student. "When it's time to crank down, we crank down."
After 36 years on the job, 30 of them right here in the valley, this Clovis girl at heart still loves every minute, every student, every part of her job.
"People say, 'what about retirement?' I wouldn't know what to do with myself, I live for teaching." And that makes Mrs. Ricchiuti our Educator of the Week.
