PRESS RELEASE:

Barbie adds Girl Scout to career list
Partnership with Mattel debuts Girl Scout inspired dolls, now sold in local stores
(July 30, 2014/Fresno) – To date, Barbie has explored more than 135 different careers, but this week she debuted a new one – Barbie became a Girl Scout. The new Girl Scout dolls encourage girls to look at all different careers, even ones they may not have imagined. The message from the dolls as well as the national partnership between Girl Scouts and Mattel is that girls can “be anything, do everything”.
Girl Scouts of Central California South are carrying these dolls to help spread this message to local girls. There are three Girl Scout inspired dolls: Barbie, Teresa, and Nikki. These dolls are being sold for $12.99 plus tax.

According to Girl Scouts of the USA, 83 percent of moms believe the Girl Scout Barbie dolls will encourage their daughters to explore new opportunities and careers. This is because girls associate the doll with hiking and the outdoors, selling cookies, and helping others, which are all opportunities open to Girl Scouts.

To purchase the doll, visit our Gold Mine Store or shop online at the Girl Scout store.
