Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles have recalled pitcher Zach Britton from Triple-A Norfolk and named him the starter for Tuesday's road test against the Detroit Tigers.
Britton, a third-round pick of the O's in 2006, started one game for Baltimore earlier this season and surrendered six runs on 10 hits over six innings in an April 29 setback against Seattle.
The 25-year-old left-hander pitched effectively at Norfolk, posting a 3-2 record and a 3.28 earned run average over 11 starts.
The O's also selected the contract of infielder Travis Ishikawa from Norfolk on Tuesday.
Ishikawa, who will bat eighth and serve as the designated hitter Tuesday, batted .316 with seven home runs and 31 runs batted in over 49 games at Norfolk and was named the International League Player of the Month in May.
To make room on the roster, Baltimore placed pitcher Miguel Gonzalez on the paternity list and designated infielder Yamaico Navarro for assignment.
Navarro batted .286 with one triple and two RBI in eight games with the O's.
Gonzalez left the team Sunday to join his wife, Lucia, who gave birth to the couple's first child.
