Clovis West grad Tim Shelton returns to the Valley

FRESNO, Calif. -- Tim Shelton, who is a native of Fresno, Calif., has been hired as an assistant coach for the Fresno State men's basketball program, head coach Justin Hutson announced on Friday.

Shelton returns to his hometown after spending 11 seasons at San Diego State as a beloved player and coach. He finished his high school career at Clovis West High School before deciding to play at SDSU, as one of Hutson's first recruits. Shelton also played for Hutson at Bakersfield High School.

Shelton was named an Under Armour 30-under-30 honoree by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) earlier this month, which annually recognizes the best 30 coaches under the age of 30.
