Every week in partnership with the Tulare County Office of Education we tell stories about South Valley students with great character.
A quiet sanctuary -- peaceful and serene. During recess you'll find Gabriela Perez Lopez in her school's library.
"I come with Ms. Quiring and help her shelve books. I come in quietly go to the books over there and flip through the pages. I just put them away," she said.
She helps the library technician take inventory and organize the shelves. Something she volunteers to do and does almost every day.
"She said, 'Can I help you?' I showed her what was to be done and was quick to learn," said Library Technician Eunice Quiring.
The Kings River Union Elementary 5th grade student is the epitome of respectful.
"She is every teachers dream. She's a breathe of fresh air," said Gabriela's 5th Grade Teacher Randi Amador.
"There are certain students who just stand out," said Quiring.
The bookworm is honored to be recognized by her favorite teachers.
"They're like somebody who takes care of me that's why I need to be respectful to them," said Perez Lopez
She wants others to love the library like she does.
"Because you can they can learn about more things," she said.
