Women skip paying at nail salon, get into multi-car crash

During the getaway, the suspects dragged the salon's owner several feet

FRESNO, Calif. - A major set of collisions on North Blackstone Avenue sent several people to the hospital. Fresno Police say it happened after two women got into an argument with the owner of a nail salon.

Police were dispatched to Jade Nails & Spa around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Lt. Steve Card said the chain of events began after two women had their nails done. When it came time to pay, the salon's owner accused the pair of using counterfeit money and a credit card they tried to use was being declined.

That's when the women and the owner began to argue. The women then left, with the owner close behind to their car in the parking lot.

"The two women had jumped into a vehicle and it drove northbound in the parking lot," Card said. Je adds the owner then hung onto the car, getting dragged several feet.

After getting rid of the owner, the suspects got in the middle of Blackstone and Sierra avenues -- crashing into a car with four people inside.

The suspects continued to cross Blackstone anyway, hitting two more cars.

The owner was taken to CRMC for injuries she got while being dragged. Only two people from the first hit car were taken to the hospital as well. All have non-life threatening injuries, according to Card.

Card said people have every right to try and protect their businesses. However, he recommends it's best to be a great witness.

"Contact police who have the personnel, resources, equipment, training and experience to safely apprehend," he said.

The suspect who drove has been arrested for felony hit and run. She also had warrants for her arrest.

We don't know at this time what the other suspect could face.
