FRESNO, Calif. - Family and friends of a teenage girl hit and killed by a car, held a vigil Sunday night. They lit candles near Armstrong and Butler where the 12-year-old was killed on March 20, 2017.
Mina Vang was on her way to school at Washington Academic Middle School in Sanger when the California Highway Patrol said she stepped in front of a pickup truck. She later died at the hospital.
Her father, Yang Vang said she was friendly and always smiling. He wants the city of Fresno to put in a crosswalk where his daughter died.
"This road here, speed limit posted at 40 miles per hour, but some people in the morning, I believe, they are going faster than 40 miles per hour," said Yang Vang.
CHP was still investigating the crash. It is not known if the driver who hit Mina was speeding.
