Victim in Central Fresno homicide identified

Police said this is the 4th homicide this year to date.

FRESNO, Calif. - Police are now looking for a killer on the loose. 35-year-old Robert Rodriguez was found shot and killed inside a car in a northeast Fresno neighborhood. The car was parked in the front yard of a friends home near the corner of Santa Ana and 6th Ave. That's near Millbrook and Gettysburg south of Fresno State.

Police said Rodriguez was shot multiple times but there is no word on a suspect.

According to investigators the car, a black Cadillac, had been parked for a while before the shooting unfolded.

Officers told us Rodriguez was friends with the homeowner.

"We are currently speaking to multiple people who may be connected to this," said Fresno Police Sgt. Andre Benson.

Neighbors nearby said the neighborhood, filled with manicured lawns and well landscaped yards, is usually quiet but the house the car was in front of always had a lot of activity late at night.

"They keep to themselves. Usually just everyone stays to themselves. I don't know just, watche out for each other I guess," said Fresno State Student and Neighbor Anthony Olvera.

"It's not a good house. The people there...something looks strange," said Neighbor Galina Manu.

Police said this is the 4th homicide in the city of Fresno this year to date.
