Vegas shooting victim Jessica Milam's father says her condition is improving

Milam is a Sanger High School graduate

LAS VEGAS - We have new information on the condition of Jessica Milam, the woman from Sanger who was one of hundreds shot in the Las Vegas massacre. Her father says Jessica is awake and responsive and was even talking with her family in her hospital room Wednesday.

Over the weekend we reported Jessica had taken a turn for the worst. Her father said at one point he was told by doctors they weren't sure if she was going to make it.
Jessica's family said she was taken to a different Las Vegas hospital where doctors discovered Jessica still had a bullet in her lung. A surgeon was able to remove the bullet and repair her lung. Jessica's family tells us she's now showing signs of improvement.

"Just to see her eyes again fully open and to hear her voice again. That's something a week ago I wasn't sure if we were going to be afforded again and for us it's truly a miracle right now," said Jessica's father Ed Milam.

Jessica's father says the focus now is on her kidneys and liver which are still not functioning at the level doctors would like, but they are confident she is getting great care from the trauma doctors at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas.

Jessica's family tells me they are aware and thankful for all the support they've received from their hometown of sanger and across the valley. It's been very important and encouraging during such a difficult time.
