Tulare teacher arrested in molestation that took place at school

TULARE, Calif. - A teacher at a Tulare school was arrested Thursday morning and charged with molestation, the Tulare Police Department said.

On Wednesday the Police Department received a call from the Tulare Joint High School District Office in regards to a possible molestation case, police said.

The report claimed that a Tulare Union High School teacher was having inappropriate relations with a student, police said.

Juan Javier Sanchez, 44, of Delano, has been a Spanish teacher at the school for the past seven years.

The investigations showed Sanchez committed sexual acts with a victim on campus during school hours, police said.

On Thursday around 8:30 a.m., Sanchez was arrested at the Tulare Joint High School District Office in Tulare and brought back to the Police Department.

He was later transported and booked into the Tulare County Main Jail.

His specific charge states: "Any person who commits an act of sexual penetration when the act is accomplished against the victim’s will by means of force, violence, duress, menace, or fear of immediate and unlawful bodily injury on the victim or another person shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for three, six, or eight years."

"The teacher has been placed on administrative leave. The district takes the allegations very seriously and will work with law enforcement and the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office," the school district said in a statement. "We understand this arrest stems from serious charges regarding allegedly inappropriate relationship with a student."
