Tulare police chase ends in deadly crash

TULARE, Calif. - A driver allegedly running from Tulare police crashed into another car, killing an innocent woman.

The crash happened near J Street and Prosperity Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police received a call about a suspected drunk man getting into a car. Officers found the man's car and tried stopping him. Officers say the driver, Jace Freitas, 18, refused to pull over.

Officers say Freitas blew a red light at the intersection and slammed into a car with four people.

All of them were taken to the hospital where the 50-year-old female driver died.

Freitas drove away from the crash scene but was later arrested. He's facing a number of charges including murder.

It's the second similar deadly crash involving a police chase in the South Valley just this weekend.

We'll have more on CBS 47 Eyewitness News at 11pm.
