MENDOTA, CA - Murder charges have been filed against three Mendota men accused of the Dec. 1 homicide of a 46-year-old Mendota woman, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said.
Ruben Escobar, 27, Carlos Cruz, 22, and Darwin Gomez, 18, have been charged with shooting the woman to death, the Sheriff's Office said.
Around 10 p.m., Mendota police officers responded to a call of shots fired on 500 block of Stamoules Street.
The woman, later identified as Marty Sepe, died shortly after medical personnel arrived at the scene.
Mendota police called the Sheriff's Office to take over the investigation.
Shortly after the shooting, Mendota Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a car which was leaving the area, and they detained the three men inside, the Sheriff's Office said. Detectives interviewed the men, and that's when detectives believed they were responsible for Sepe’s death.
A motive for this crime has not been determined, and the case remains an ongoing investigation, the Sheriff's Office said.
