Thong Vang in Meth-Induced Psychotic State on Morning of Shooting

On Monday, a forensic psychologist took the witness stand in the Thong Vang trial and attempted to explain why Vang allegedly shot two correctional officers inside the Fresno County Jail. Both sides concluded their cases, and are expected to present closing arguments on Tuesday.

Vang is accused of shooting officers Juanita Davila and Toamalama Scanlan in September 2016.

Forensic psychologist Dr. Alex Yufik testifies and said when Vang entered the jail lobby that day, the accused shooter was in a psychotic state induced by meth.

It will soon be up to a jury to decide if that is an explanation enough to clear Vang of attempted murder.
