SELMA, California - Selma police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old girl.
Police say around 7:45a.m. the girl was walking to school near Olive and Floral street when a Hispanic man in a brown sedan pulled up next to her. He got out of the car and asked her if she could help him, once she asked him how the suspect grabbed her and tried to force her into his vehicle.
Police say the girl fought back, freed herself and ran to Abraham Lincoln Middle School where she alerted staff of the incident.
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man in his late 30's or early 40's with a goatee or mustache. Police say he has a brown mole on his right check and at least one silver tooth. His car is described as a brown 4 door sedan in a beat up condition.
Police say within the past week to 10 days they have received at least three reports of indecent exposure involving a similar vehicle and suspect description. They are investigating to see if all the reports are related. Police also say this is the first time the suspect has made physical contact with the victim.
Anyone with any information should contact the Selma Police Department.
