WOODLAKE, Calif. - A man is in critical condition after he rammed officers who were trying to stop his vehicle -- forcing them to open fire Wednesday, according to Woodlake Police Chief Mike Marquez.
Woodlake and Exeter Police were investigating a homicide which happened earlier in the week. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle of a possible suspect in the area, but he stopped and then rammed his vehicle into officers, Marquez said.
Officers opened fire, Marquez said.
The officers are OK, Marquez said, but the suspect is in critical condition at a local hospital.
Marquez said the suspect ended up not being a suspect in the homicide, but instead in a car theft.
No other information was immediately available.
