CLOVIS, Calif. - One student is in custody at Clovis East High School and another was taken to an area hospital after a stabbing Tuesday morning, the Clovis Unified School District said.
The student transported to the hospital was taken for "precautionary measures," Clovis Unified police said.
The incident happened at the start of the school day, and the victim went into a classroom to tell an adult what happened.
The school was placed on lockdown along with neighboring Reyburn Intermediate School while police searched for the suspect. The student suspect was identified and is in custody, the school district said.
Clovis East remains on "modified lockdown" while police investigate, and school officials make sure all students are accounted for.
The stabbing appears to be the result of a fight or argument between the two students, the school district said.
No other information was immediately available.
