Sears store in Hanford is closing down

HANFORD, California - The Sears store in Hanford is shutting its doors.

Sears Holdings, which owns both Sears and Kmart, made the announcement Thursday, building on months of similar closings aimed at getting the company on solid financial footing.

The company informed employees at 64 Kmart and 39 Sears stores that they will be closing the locations in the coming months -- including Hanford.

The Sears at 1679 W. Lacey Blvd. is expected to close in early April.

Eligible associates impacted by the store closure will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for another position within the company, the company said.
