Rex Tillerson out as Secretary of State

Washington D.C. - Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is out of the job, President Trump announced Tuesday.

The President made the announcement on Twitter early Tuesday saying Tillerson will be replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Pompeo will be replaced by CIA Deputy Director Gina Haspel. Haspel will be the first female to serve as CIA Director.

President Trump tweeted: "Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!"

Before departing for California Tuesday, Trump told reporters he and Pompeo are always on the "same wavelength" and that is what he needs in a Secretary of State.
