Police search for thieves in connection to northwest Fresno heist

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno police are searching for two thieves captured on surveillance footage. Police said the men broke into a handful of work trucks in northwest Fresno, stealing about $15,000 worth of tools.

"You can see they took bolt cutters and snipped it like scissors," said Tyson Freeman, general manager of Lee's Air.

Freeman can't believe thieves went through great lengths to break into seven of his work trucks.

"It was disgusting, just absolutely terrifying," said Freeman.

Surveillance video from the business shows the moments after thieves broke in through a locked gate. They arrived in a white GMC Sierra pickup Sunday afternoon.

"We saw the truck pulling in, empty as could be. Thirty minutes later, as they're pulling out, we just saw Santa's sleigh full of tools," said Freeman.

During the heist on West Mission Avenue near Shaw & 99, the thieves could be seen checking from time to time, making sure no one was watching.

"They began cutting some locks to the trucks and were able to steal over $15,000 worth of property from these trucks," said Fresno Police Lieutenant Mark Hudson.

Freeman said they took various tools like screwdrivers, drills, and vacuum pumps. Some belonged to his workers.

"Those employees feel violated, their tools were lost," said Freeman. "They have to go through the heartache of replenishing it."

Police said the pickup the thieves used was stolen a few days earlier. Coincidentally, Freeman says he knows the family the truck was stolen from. He hopes someone recognizes the two men and will turn them in.

"It's a matter of time, we have plenty of evidence and details behind us," said Freeman. "It's just a matter of time."

Freeman is offering an unspecified reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Anyone with information should call Fresno police or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
