FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Police are on the hunt for 27-year old Rylan Marki. He's accused of shooting two people in a week. Tonight he's on the run and police need your help to get him back behind bars.
Marki allegedly shot his female cousin on April 12. Investigators said he shot her in the stomach over a fight about money. Then a week later, on the night of April 19, Marki allegedly went to the O'Reilly Auto Parts Store near Blackstone and Sierra. It was there where Marki is accused of attempting to shoplift, and police said he got into a physical altercation with an employee. Marki allegedly shot the employee in the stomach. The Fresno Police Department arrested Marki on April 20, but three days later, he posted his bail of $140,000.
Lt. Dave Madrigal said Marki is now wanted for both shootings, among other felony charges. The question is, how was he able to bail out?
The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said Marki technically was eligible for bail. They said when Fresno Police arrested Marki for the O'reilly's shooting, the arresting officer marked the probation hold on the arrest, then crossed it out, and initialed it. The Sheriff's Office contends Marki would not have been eligible for bail if that officer left the probation hold in place.
Some Fresno residents have expressed frustration.
Leanna Valencia commented, "This guy's wanted for shooting people, why, I mean, they lock people up for the darndest things, and a guy like that should have been like right off the top, not been eligible for bail at all."
If you have any information on Marki's whereabouts, you are urged to contact the Fresno Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
