MERCED, California - The murder-suicide in Merced on Saturday was apparently staged, and one of the victims and the suspect have been identified, the Merced Police Department said Monday.
Around 9:15 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Daybreak Drive regarding two "code blues" according to family members, the Police Department said.
Two victims were found dead in the master bedroom under suspicious circumstances, police said.
One of the victims was identified as Linda Vue, 41, of Merced. The name of the male victim is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
It was determined that both Vue and the male had been shot to death in the master bedroom, police said. The crime scene was staged to look as though it was a murder-suicide.
The evidence on scene proved that a third party had shot and killed the two victims, police said.
In recent months, Vue had become estranged from her husband, Tom Vue, who had been causing problems for her, police said. A recent court decision was made and a restraining order has been issued.
Detectives attempted to locate Tom Vue with no success. Around 8:30 p.m., a call was made to the Police Department with information that Tom Vue’s vehicle was parked on a street in south Merced and that someone was inside and appeared to be dead.
Officers responded and located the vehicle and found Tom Vue dead inside.
Anyone with information should call Detective Jeff Horn at 209-388-7739 or 209-385-6905.
