Pokemon Go leads rescuers to trapped kitten

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. - A kitten in distress may have Pokemon Go to thank for its life.

Fresno County Sheriff's deputies were called to the area of Ashlan and Clovis avenues Tuesday night, after a girl out playing Pokemon Go heard meowing coming from a storm drain.

"I started hearing meowing, I was playing Pokemon Go, and a heard a meow," said Destiny Escamilla.

When deputies couldn't reach the trapped animal, Cal Fire firefighters were called in to help.

"We were able to pull a manhole cover, stick a ladder down there and using a pressurized extinguisher get the cat to go to the other side of the drain where we could grab him," said Capt. Shannon Staggs.

The kitten is in good shape and has been turned over to Fresno Human Animal Services.
