Parlier PD: finds driver passed out, drunk in the middle of the street

PARLIER, Calif. - Parlier PD found a man passed out behind the wheel of his car in the middle of the street Saturday.

Officer Adolfo Jimenez tried waking him up as drivers had to go around him. Police said it took about 5 to 7 minutes to get the man, identified as Leonel Perez Lopez, to wake up.

It happened early Saturday morning around 1 a.m. on Mendocino Avenue just north of Parlier Avenue.

Officers found an open container of Modelo inside Perez-Lopez's car. The driver refused to do a breathalyzer test, according to police. A judge authorized a search warrant, and police took a blood sample from the driver.

Perez-Lopez was booked into jail on suspicion of DUI.
