Officials order evacuation warnings in Squaw Valley due to fire

SQUAW VALLEY, California - The Fresno County Sheriff's Office have issued evacuation warnings in Squaw Valley due to a wildland fire.

Officials say the Silver fire has destroyed 3 homes and burned  a little over 50 acres. Several other structures are threatened.

Containment stands at 15%. Fire crews have stopped the movement of the fire; the battalion chief says they don't expect the acreage to go up significantly.

Mandatory evacuations are in effect in the area off Hwy 180 and Silver Lane.

The areas being issued evacuation warnings are near Silver, Fulgham, Marlar, Lelyer, Erwin, Crane, and Ackers Lanes.

Some road closures are in effect.

Fire officials say the fire was reported shortly after 4p.m, they are still investigating the cause.

The battalion chief says winds have died down and the temperature has lowered, which will greatly help firefighters.
