Map shows California's noisiest places to live

A map released Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ shows the noise levels in communities across the United States.

The map measures noise from busy streets, highways, and airports.

It shows that more than 97% of the population could be exposed to noise levels equivalent to a humming refrigerator.

The article explains that less than one-tenth of a percent of the population could be exposed to a noise level of 80 decibels or more, that is comparable to a garbage disposal.
